Abundant rainfall accompanied by happiness. - H.P. Baxxter and Sara get married on Sylt island.
Scooter lead singer H.P. Baxxter and his girlfriend, Sara, tied the knot on the North Sea island of Sylt. The couple said "I do" at a civil ceremony at the Sylter Heimatmuseum on Friday, followed by a church wedding in front of around 100 guests on Saturday.
The bride and groom, who were soaked by the rain on their arrival at the church, shared a kiss twice for the waiting photographers. They dressed in contrasting styles - Baxter in a black tuxedo while Sara donned a white dress with a V-neck and lace detailing, topped with a high-pile hairstyle and veil. The bouquet featured white roses and a bridal veil.
The festive atmosphere at the church continued even as the rain stopped. Guests awaited champagne for the newlyweds, including FDP politician Wolfgang Kubicki and celebrity chef Tim Mälzer.
Though the wedding had been kept under wraps for a while, Baxter shared a photo of he and Sara on Instagram on Friday, taken at the civil ceremony site. His caption, "Just married," garnered over 20,000 likes, among them from Hamburg's second deputy mayor, Katharina Fegebank (Greens).
Born Hans Peter Geerdes, the 60-year-old musician is from Leer, Lowers Saxony, and resides in Hamburg. His techno band Scooter has had numerous chart-topping hits and albums since the '90s. For Baxxter, this marks his third marriage.
The engaged couple were spotted driving in a vintage Rolls-Royce in the Scottish Highlands in the fall of 2021. It's there that he proposed to Sara. "We were then romantically on our way in a Rolls-Royce old-timer in the Highlands, were on the Isle of Skye island. There, I asked Sara for her hand," he told Bild in October.
Baxxter reflected on the emotions he felt as his daughter led him to the church. "When the bride was led into the church by her father, Baxxter's tears came. We understand each other blindly in all areas of life. That's important. Not only when it's high life, but also when it doesn't go so well, we stick together."
During their ceremony, the music enthusiasts heard their favorite tunes, with musician Manu Elke and DJ Devine performing a set. The couple also indulged in some special foods, such as raw herring with onions and cucumber, herring and fennel salad, and halibut with beetroot and horseradish. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they enjoyed a blueberry pie.
Baxxter even took some time to give their eight-year-old daughter a special gift: a Porsche Cayman. A homemade video shows him surprising her, presenting the keys, and letting her take it for a spin.
Despite the rain, the newlyweds' big day was filled with joy and happiness. And if the saying "rain on your wedding day is good luck" holds true, their marriage is sure to be flourishing.
