Guardiola would probably stay in Manchester in the event of forced relegation
Coaching star Pep Guardiola is not making his future at Manchester City dependent on the outcome of the investigation into possible breaches of the Premier League's financial rules.
He wants to wait for the verdict, "but I will definitely not think about my future if it depends on being here or in League One," said the Spaniard. He even emphasized: "The chances of staying are greater if we are in League One than if we win the Champions League."
Allegation: breaches of financial rules
The Premier League is accusing City of around 80 alleged breaches of its financial rules and a further 30 breaches for alleged non-cooperation in an investigation. In the worst case scenario, the English champions could be expelled from the league.
"We don't agree with what people are accusing us of," said Guardiola: "We will defend ourselves. And after the decision is made, I will be here, like a spokesman for my club."
In sporting terms, however, things are going well again for Guardiola and the treble winners. Ahead of this Saturday's top match (1.30pm) against Liverpool FC with coach Jürgen Klopp, City lead the table in England ahead of the Reds.
Despite Manchester City potentially facing forced relegation due to allegations of financial rule breaches, Pep Guardiola has expressed his intent to remain with the club, stating, "The chances of staying are greater if we are in League One than if we win the Champions League." Despite their position atop the Premier League, the coach remains focused on defending the club in the ongoing investigation.
