Girlfriend's soccer jersey discloses coach Nagelsmann's alias.
For a triumphant Home-EM (European Championship), Julian Nagelsmann leans on familial encouragement. He shared the triumphant debut win against Scotland intimately with his girlfriend Lena Wurzenberger. Her jersey also showcases a pet name for the German coach.
Following the impressive opening victory of the German football squad in Munich, the pair was spotted locking lips passionately in the Munich Arena.
"Support from my girlfriend and my entire family is incredibly significant," the 36-year-old Nagelsmann expressed in the press conference when asked about Lena Wurzenberger's support. "We also got a little message from the family, which is quite meaningful," Nagelsmann added on the team's camaraderie.
His girlfriend cheered him on from the stands wearing a white national jersey and sporting Black-Red-Gold makeup on her cheeks. The back of her jersey bore the name "Julsi." "The nickname isn't new; I've had it for some time," clarified Nagelsmann.
Apparently, the German trainer has no qualms with his girlfriend serving as a popular muse for journalists. "If they all want to snap her up in photos, that's not too bad. I do it too," Nagelsmann commented. "I'm glad she's in the stadium, supporting me, just like my family. That's incredibly valuable, gives me a boost, and hopefully also helps us put in a good performance."
The German coach even allowed his players to meet their loved ones after the last test match against Greece a week ago. For this, Nagelsmann extended the free weekend just a bit after the Friday evening game and requested a return to Herzogenaurach on Monday. Many players visited their families during this break, with Toni Kroos flying to Madrid, and Captain Ilkay Gündogan to Barcelona.
