Giant duel, German gold rush and the quest for the fastest man in the world

The German team can also hope for medal decisions on the ninth day of the Olympics. After winning team gold, the German riding stars are also among the favorites in the dressage individual event. Florian Unruh, the archer, also aims for a medal. The fastest man in the world is being sought in athletics, and on the Center Court of Roland Garros, the tennis duel of the giants between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz is taking place.

Highlights of the Olympic Day

10:00 AM: With the Olympic victory in the team competition, Isabell Werth, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, and Frederic Wandres have already proven their top form. In the individual event, the next medal is to be added. Especially von Bredow-Werndl, who won gold in 2021 in Tokyo, belongs to the favorites.

Around 2:00 PM: Dream final on the Roland Garros site: The two best tennis players face each other in the final. In the duel of generations, the new Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz meets the Serbian veteran Novak Djokovic. For both, it's about the first Olympic gold. The match begins as the second game of the day at 12:00 PM on Court Philippe Chatrier.

2:46 PM: Florian Unruh has already won silver in the mixed event and now wants to hit the bullseye in the individual competition in archery. To be able to compete for a medal, the Berliner first has to overcome the round of 16 and quarter-finals.

9:50 PM: The 100-meter sprint of the athletes traditionally belongs to the highlights of the Olympic Games. However, German starters do not play a role in the medal award.

Three German teams cannot win a medal today, but several are playing for a good starting position on the way to a medal: The handballers want to secure the group victory and thus a good starting position for the quarter-finals at 5:15 PM against the equally ranked Slovenia. The men's hockey team plays against Argentina in the quarter-finals at 8:00 PM for entry into the semi-finals. The already qualified basketball women face a virtually unsolvable task in their last group game. The opponent is the USA at 5:15 PM.
