German U21 with a must-win: 4:1 against Estonia

The German U21 footballers remain on course in the European Championship qualifiers. In a 4:1 (1:0) win against Estonia in Paderborn, coach Antonio Di Salvo's side celebrated their third win in three games. This gives the DFB team the chance to take an important step towards group victory against Poland on Tuesday (6pm/ProSiebenMaxx). The Poles have played one game more and have twelve points to their name.

In front of 5,493 spectators in Paderborn, Hoffenheim's Maximilian Beier gave his side a deserved lead at the break (39th minute) after a long and futile run. After the break, Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko increased the lead to 2:0 (53') before the underdogs reduced the deficit to 1:2 out of nowhere through Danil Kuraksin (64'). Gladbach's Rocco Reitz then made it all clear (88./90.+4).

The nine group winners and the three best group runners-up will qualify for the final round, which will take place in Slovakia in 2025. The six remaining group runners-up will compete in play-offs to determine the last three finalists.

The German U21 team, managed by Antonio Di Salvo, is currently in the EM qualifiers, aiming for group victory. Their impressive 4:1 win against Estonia, with Youssoufa Moukoko contributing to the lead, boosts their chances in the qualified matches, such as the upcoming game against Poland. With the DFB team focusing on securing points, their qualification for the European U21 Championship in 2025 becomes increasingly likely.
