Further speculation surrounding Eberl as Bayern's sports director
Speculation continues about Max Eberl's future at FC Bayern Munich. According to Sky, the signing of the soccer manager is "getting closer and closer". The supervisory board of the German champions met last week, after which there was no official vote.
Since Hasan Salihamidzic's departure as head of sport at the end of May, the position has been vacant at FC Bayern. Honorary President Uli Hoeneß recently said that a man would probably be hired for this position in the next four to six months, thus reconfirming the timetable he had drawn up.
"Then we'll see whether it will be Max or someone else," Hoeneß said in an interview with RTL/ntv over a month ago. Hoeneß is a member of the supervisory board, which appoints board members.
After the supervisory board meeting a week ago, it became known that marketing director Andreas Jung (61) would be leaving the club in the summer after almost three decades. Jung's decision has no causal link to the exciting personnel matter of Eberl (50), as their areas of responsibility are different. However, the name of the former Mönchengladbach and Leipzig manager has long been mentioned when discussing the management team that will lead the serial champions into the future.
No rush
In the winter transfer window, those responsible in Munich see the work "quite well taken care of by our Christoph Freund together with Thomas (Tuchel)", as CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said. FC Bayern does not see the need for any great haste in the matter of the sporting director.
RB Leipzig parted company with Eberl at the end of September shortly before the top match against FC Bayern. The reason, according to the RB bosses, was Eberl's lack of commitment to Leipzig. In addition to a possible move to FC Bayern, Eberl has also been linked with Liverpool FC. According to dpa information, the Saxons are demanding around five million euros should Eberl want to work for a new club. RB and Eberl have apparently reached an agreement on this.
- Despite the progress in Max Eberl's potential move to FC Bayern Munich, the club's CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, mentioned that they are content with the work done in the winter transfer window by Christoph Freund and Thomas Tuchel.
- Although RB Leipzig and Eberl have reportedly agreed on a termination payment of around five million euros, Eberl has been linked with positions at FC Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC following his departure from RB Leipzig due to perceived lack of commitment.
- Regarding the vacancy for the head of sport at FC Bayern since Hasan Salihamidzic's departure, Uli Hoeneß suggested that a potential sports director could be hired within the next four to six months, leaving room for speculation about who could fit the role, such as Max Eberl or others.
