She cheered on, covering her face with her hands, laughing and loudly celebrating: Duchess Sophie (59) was fully engaged with the British track cycling team in the team sprint, celebrating their victory and new world record. The wife of Prince Edward (60) has been in Paris since Saturday to support British athletes.

Duchess Sophie is patron of cycling and hockey

As such, she is one of many royals traveling to the sporting events. On the tenth day, the Swedish royal couple, the Spanish king, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg (69), and Dutch Crown Princess Amalia (20) were also present in Paris.

For the glorious track cycling final, Sophie chose a lilac 'Roisin' dress by Erdem, priced at around 2,300 euros, as reported by 'Hello!' magazine. She paired it with white leather high Mary Jane espadrilles from Penelope Chilvers, and styled her hair in a soft bun.

On Saturday, the Duchess met with Menna Rawlings (56), the UK's ambassador to France and Monaco, who shared a snapshot of the two together at L'Hôtel De Charost. Rawlings wrote that the Duchess was supporting the British team as patron of cycling and hockey. Sophie wore a blue shirt dress by Max Mara for the occasion.

Will William and Kate also travel?

Meanwhile, British and American media outlets are speculating whether Prince William and Princess Kate (both 40) might also make an appearance in Paris this week. "The Princess would love to visit the Olympic Games," a source close to Kate told the British tabloid 'Daily Express' a few days ago. The Princess has fond memories of the 2012 Games in London and would like to attend again, given that this year's event is relatively close to home. However, whether she will make the trip during her cancer treatment is uncertain.

Duchess Sophie's enthusiasm for the Olympic Games as a patron of cycling and hockey was evident as she cheered on the British track cycling team in their victory and new world record at The Olympic Games. Later, she was spotted in Paris supporting the team with other royals, including her attendance at the track cycling final in a stylish lilac dress.
