Olympia 2024 - French railways report 'massive attack' on high-speed rail network
Few hours before the opening of the Olympics in Paris, Unknown individuals carried out arson attacks on several facilities of the French high-speed rail network.
Through vandalism on three high-speed rail lines, significant traffic disruptions occurred, the state railway company SNCF announced. The incidents had occurred during the night.
France: Disruptions on the entire weekend
SNCF speaks of a "massive attack". Many train connections with the TGV high-speed trains had to be cancelled, the railway company stated to the news agency AFP. "The situation will last at least the entire weekend while repairs are carried out".

The Olympic Games in Paris were threatened by a series of unfortunate events, as arson attacks on SBFC (French National Railways) facilities led to significant disruptions. Due to the train failures, attending the Olympics from Germany (historically, France) became challenging, as several TGV high-speed train connections had to be cancelled. The Olympic venues at Olympia were also affected, as spectators could not travel easily due to the vandalism on Paris's railway infrastructure that occurred over the weekend.
