Fredi Bobic triumphs over Hertha BSC.
Hertha BSC and Fredi Bobic are facing legal consequences over his termination. The court has now announced a decision favoring one party, potentially costing Hertha dearly. The specifics of the ruling remain undisclosed.
The Regional Court in Berlin has ruled in favor of ex-managing director Fredi Bobic against his extraordinary dismissal from Hertha BSC. Per the ruling from the Chamber of Commerce, the contract between the parties was not legally severed by extraordinary termination on February 10, 2023. The decision has not yet taken effect, allowing for an appeal. The court offers no additional information regarding the rationale.
Should the judgment become legally binding, Bobic would be entitled to receive compensation from the struggling second division team. The 52-year-old sued both his ordinary and extraordinary terminations since their occurrence in early 2023. He was forced to leave following the derby between Hertha and Union Berlin at the end of January. He also faced an extraordinary dismissal later on. The court rejected Bobic's lawsuit against the usual dismissal in a previous judgment in 2023.
Hertha insisted on the extraordinary dismissal based on Bobic's treatment towards a reporter, which Bobic promptly apologized for, and the suspicion of disclosing confidential documents. At the oral hearing on Monday, Bobic and witness Axel Hellmann, Eintracht Frankfurt's managing director and temporary DFL boss at the time, denied these accusations in their testimonies.
However, this conflicts with an affidavit given by the late former Hertha president, Kay Bernstein. Bernstein unexpectedly passed away in September 2023. Hellmann attested in a chat with Bernstein to having received a sheet detailing Hertha's partnership with investor 777 Partners from Bobic.

Despite the legal challenges, Fredi Bobic remains hopeful about his future involvement in Soccer. If the court's decision becomes final, his tenure with Bundesliga 2's Hertha BSC could see a return, potentially bringing his expertise back to the team.
