Tom Hanks and Robin Wright - "Forrest Gump" dream couple is back - young
Exactly 30 years ago, Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks, 67) fell in love with his great love Jenny (Robin Wright, 58). Surprisingly, "Forrest Gump" director Robert Zemeckis (72) is the one to thank for the fact that the two will become cinema's dream couple again in 2024. In the first trailer for Zemeckis' new film "Here," Hanks and Wright are not only seen together again on screen - thanks to computer technology, they are also younger (or even younger) than in the six-time Oscar-winning film from 1994.
A Special Place in Human History
"Here" is based on the same-named Graphic Novel by Richard McGuire (67) and has an equally simple yet impressive premise: The entire story takes place at one location and, as the trailer shows, covers the era from the dinosaurs to the beginnings of humanity, leading up to the moment when a house is built at that spot. The main storyline in the source material takes place there between the years 1902 and 2029.
In this unique chamber piece, the audience witnesses the love story of Hanks and Wright's characters over several decades - from their first shy declaration of love as a young couple to their advanced age. For this, a new tool was used that allowed the actors to transform themselves into younger versions of themselves in real time on set - a novelty in the previously very time- and cost-intensive technology of digital de-aging.
The "Forrest Gump" reunion is not yet complete with Hanks, Wright, and Zemeckis. The adapted screenplay for "Here" comes from Eric Roth (79) - he received the Oscar in 1995 for his script for Gump's unusual hero's journey. In addition to Hanks, Wright, and Zemeckis, Marvel star Paul Bettany (53) and "Yellowstone" actress Kelly Reilly (46) can be seen in "Here." The US release date is November 15.
