Following the distressing aftermath of the match, camaraderie: Hungarian football players extend well wishes to their injured teammate Barnabas Varga, who suffered severe injuries during the EM game against Scotland. Players like Freiburg defender Attila Szalai on Instagram expressed their sentiments, "Speedy recovery, brother!!!", while Willi Orban from RB Leipzig posted next to a celebratory image of the Hungarians, "Standing strong! For our daily fighter: @varga.barnabas_!" Due to their victory in the last group game, the Hungarians have the potential to advance to the knockout stage of the European championship as the third-place team.

The victory in Stuttgart was marred by Varga's accident. He clashed heads with the Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn after a free kick within the penalty area. This resulted in a concussion and multiple facial fractures for Varga. The Hungarian Football Association announced late at night that the striker was likely to undergo surgery, effectively ending his tournament participation.

The events in the second half caused shock among teammates, opponents, and spectators. Varga lay motionless on the ground initially. Dominik Szoboszlai, a former Leipzig player, reported later that Varga was not getting enough oxygen. After assessing the situation, Szoboszlai, paramedics arrived on the field and escorted the player off under a cover for privacy.

Other national players, such as Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi or Marton Dardai from Hertha BSC, shared photos on social media showcasing Varga or a scene after the final whistle, featuring Kevin Csoboth, the goal scorer, holding Varga's jersey for the camera. Athletes from various teams also posted messages online. The seasoned French player Antoine Griezmann, for instance, wrote on the platform X "Varga" and added a heart emoji.
