Lena Meyer-Landrut - Flood of concert cancellations in July
The summer is the time for open-air concerts and many fans look forward to performances of their favorite artists in the warm months at home and abroad. However, they had to deal with some disappointments recently, as several concerts of big artists have been cancelled in Germany and abroad in July.
Pearl Jam's sudden cancellation
On June 30, rock band Pearl Jam announced the cancellation of their concerts at the Waldbühne in Berlin on July 2 and 3. The performance in London on June 29 could not take place due to the illness of a band member.
"Despite all efforts, the band is still not fully recovered," the musicians around frontman Eddie Vedder (59) announced on their Instagram account. There are no replacement concerts for the only Germany dates of the "Dark Matter" world tour. Ticket costs will be refunded.
Lena Meyer-Landrut's collapse
German singer Lena Meyer-Landrut (33) also had to cancel concerts recently due to health reasons. Her performances on June 29 and 30 in Bavaria had to be cancelled shortly beforehand because she had to surrender to the hospital in Munich before the show due to strong pains. A concert on July 1 in Hadamar had already been cancelled earlier in the week - the organizer's website mentioned "technical production reasons". The tickets could be exchanged for concerts by Dieter Bohlen (70), Silbermond or Ben Zucker (40, July 5) or returned.
Kim Petras' health issues
German singer Kim Petras (31) had planned to perform at four festivals in Barcelona, London, Porto and Seattle this summer. However, all the concerts in May, June and July were cancelled without replacement. "I had to make the difficult decision, not to perform at festivals this summer on doctor's advice," the German singer and Grammy winner announced at the end of April in an Instagram story. She did not provide a further explanation.
Neil Young's health issues
Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young (78) also alarmed his fans, as he completely cancelled his tour with Crazy Horse due to health issues. In May, concerts in Chicago, Austin and Dallas had already been postponed.
Recently, the musician announced that the last ten dates of the "Love Earth" tour, which were supposed to take him to Canada and the USA, also had to be cancelled. "We are still not fully recovered, so our big tour unfortunately has to take a big unexpected break," it says on Young's website. The dates are supposed to be made up at a later, unknown date.
Jason Derulo's scheduling issues
Fans in Germany had to endure another cancellation by Jason Derulo (34). He was supposed to present his hits in Saarbrücken on July 15, but the date was pushed back to July 2025 in June. According to the organizer, "scheduling issues" were the reason for the change. The tickets remain valid.
