Five convertibles are set to arrive this summer season.

In the past, there were plenty of options for those wanting a convertible or roadster. But, with many cars now being permanently closed, choice has become scarce and managed. Nonetheless, certain manufacturers still offer fresh air experiences and introduce new models. Here are five of them:

Mercedes CLE: Star of Stuttgart

Mercedes is known for its rich history of producing convertibles and roadsters. The SLK is now history, but Mercedes isn't done with open-top models yet. The new CLE four-seater is priced at 66,402 euros and comes with four and six-cylinder engines, ranging from 224 to 381 hp. Additionally, a diesel is available. In a few months, an AMG model with 449 hp will join the lineup, reaching a top speed of 265 km/h. To make it usable year-round, Mercedes includes a wind deflector and neck heating in the headrest. Although fans are happily welcoming this new convertible, there is a hint of sadness as it marks the end of two other convertibles, the open-top C-Class and E-Class.

Ford Mustang: Authentic American Cowboy

Mercedes is also launching the open-top CLE as an AMG with 449 hp and a top speed of 265 km/h.

Ford's Mustang is as American as it gets - just like John Wayne and Buffalo Bill. For 60 years, the Mustang has been roaming the highways with over ten million units sold. Ford has also offered a convertible version for each of these six generations. In the seventh generation, Ford decided to stick with the classic V8 engine with a 5-liter displacement, 446 hp, and a top speed of 250 km/h. The Mustang Convertible boasts the lowest starting price among V8 convertibles, costing only 65,000 euros.

Maserati Gran Cabrio Folgore: Ode to Silence

The V8 of the Ford Mustang Cabriolet delivers 446 hp.

Maserati is taking the quiet route by replacing the rumbling sound of a V8 with an electric engine. Expected this summer, the Gran Cabrio Folgore is an electric four-seater with 92.5 kWh of battery, powering three electric motors and delivering 830 hp. The result is a top speed of 290 km/h. Maserati, however, acknowledges the beauty of the V8 sound and offers it as an option at an additional €20,000. Until then, you can enjoy the sweet sound of a 550-hp, three-liter V6 engine.

Ferrari 12Cilindri: Elite on the Move

The rich and powerful are in luck this summer with three new open-top models. The Ferrari 12Cilindri is at the top of the list, featuring twelve cylinders and generating 830 hp. Its top speed is 340 km/h, and it has a price tag of €435,000. If you're declared not worthy by Ferrari, you can still treat yourself to the Aston Martin DB12 Volante (€680,000) or the McLaren Spider (€273,000). Both models come with 680 hp and 700 hp, respectively.

Maserati still offers a choice until 2028: for around 230,000 euros, the GranCabrio is also available with a three-liter V6.

MG Cyberster: A Glimpse into the Future

MG is entering the world of convertibles with its Cyberster, a modern take on open-top vehicles. Celebrating its debut this summer, the sleek four-seater strives for an affordable price, making it the most accessible electric convertible. The car will offer 450 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of less than four seconds. With a price under €90,000, MG is providing an opportunity for those yearning for an open-air experience without breaking the bank.

As more manufacturers shift towards electric, we might see more open-top models in the future. These five convertibles give a glimpse of what's to come, delivering a mix of thrilling power, elegance, and fresh air experiences.

The MG Cyberster has been rumored at trade fairs for years, but this summer it will actually be launched on the market.

MG is turning 100 years old and is treating itself to a present for its simplicity: Although the brand now operates in China and open-top cars are even less popular there than here, the traditional manufacturer is venturing into the roadster market once again. This time, however, the car moves in tandem with the times by being fully electric and sporting a futuristic name - Cyberster.

The Cyberster, which has been teased at trade fairs for years, is expected to hit the market this summer, with estimated prices starting at around 50,000 euros. There will be two versions available: a 544 hp all-wheel-drive with two motors, and a rear-wheel-drive version with 340 hp. Currently, we don't have more information on the European version. However, the Cyberster is already in operation in China, equipped with a 77 kWh battery and a standard range of 580 kilometers. But given the unpredictable British weather, it's unlikely the roadster will cover that distance before getting rained on.

The MG Cyberster, an electric four-seater, will be joining the market this summer, marking MG's return to the convertible market after a century. It will offer an affordable price, making it the most accessible electric convertible, with estimated prices starting at under €90,000.

Despite Ford discontinuing the convertible version of their Mustang, the iconic American model continues to be popular with its classic V8 engine, delivering 446 hp. The seventh generation Mustang Convertible has a starting price of 65,000 euros.

Maserati is introducing an electric four-seater Gran Cabrio Folgore, set to arrive this summer, with an electric engine delivering 830 hp and a top speed of 290 km/h. The Italian automaker, however, continues to offer the sounds of a V8 engine as an option.
