Last weekend, a lot of fresh snow and strong gusts of wind had already led to the cancellation of the two planned men's downhill races in Zermatt-Cervinia. The course on the world-famous Matterhorn starts at an altitude of more than 3000 meters on the Swiss side, with the finish in Italy. The planned premiere in the previous season was canceled due to a lack of snow.
Despite the unfortunate cancellation of the women's World Cup alpine skiing race in Zermatt-Cervinia due to strong winds, athletes are hoping for better conditions during the rescheduled event on Sunday. Many skiers, including those participating in the World Cup, often choose Zermatt and Cervinia for their renowned alpine skiing slopes during the Winter sports season. The departure for this anticipated race from Zermatt was initially planned for the World Cup circuit, offering a thrilling challenge for the world's best alpine skiers.
