First victory for Wimbledon winner Alcaraz at the ATP Finals
Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz has celebrated his first victory at the ATP Finals. Two days after his three-set defeat to Alexander Zverev, the tennis pro from Spain beat the Russian Andrei Rublev 7:5, 6:2 in Turin.
Alcaraz (20) only needed 74 minutes for his success and thus kept his chance of reaching the semi-finals alive. By contrast, Rublev, who lost to his compatriot Daniil Medvedev in the opening round, no longer has a chance of progressing.
Alcaraz's victory means that Zverev can already book his place in the semi-finals this Wednesday evening. If the Olympic tennis champion wins against Medvedev from 9.00 p.m. (Sky), he is guaranteed a place in the semi-finals. Otherwise, the decision will be made on Friday when Zverev plays Rublev and Alcaraz plays Medvedev.
Carlos Alcaraz's triumph at the ATP Finals in the Tennis match against Andrei Rublev marked his first victory in this prestigious tournament. Despite the Russian's earlier loss to Daniil Medvedev, Alcaraz's victory keeps him in contention for a spot in the ATP Finals' semifinals.
