Frederik and Mary of Denmark - First awakening in the summer residence

"Next premiere for King Frederik X. (56) and Queen Mary of Denmark (52): For the first time, they appeared as a new royal couple at the changing of the guard in the courtyard of their summer residence, Schloss Grasten in Grasten, Denmark.

"It's a tradition"

"Many residents of Grasten and tourists gathered on site to witness the spectacle and pay homage to their Majesties, who currently reside at Schloss Grasten," commented the Palace on Instagram about the royal event's photos.

Further explained the Social Media Team: "It's a tradition that the royal guard marches through the city every day during the monarch's stay at the southern Jutland castle for a parade, and every Friday, the changing of the guard ends with a charming concert in the courtyard."

King and Queen in summery outfits

Four of the six photos show the royal couple in distinctively summery attire. Mary wears a long white summer dress, a matching top, and over it a long, loose jacket with a blue-brown-white batik design. Sandals and sunglasses complete her look. The Queen's hair is styled in a loose, relaxed bun.

The Monarch presented himself at the event in a light blue short-sleeved shirt, beige trousers, and dark loafers with a pattern on the top.

Mary and her Australian Shepherds

One of the photos shows a particularly adorable moment between the Australian-born Mary and one of her dogs. Despite the commotion, the Australian Shepherd and its puppy find inspiration for a cuddle session.

Lastly, a fluffy dog in rainy Greenland received a cuddle from the radiant Queen. This was also captured on camera.

And at the Royal Run in May, Mary proudly presented herself between her two well-behaved dogs. "My two running companions are disappointed that they can't run with me..." wrote the Queen about the photo.

King Frederik followed his mother, Queen Margrethe II. (84), on the Danish throne in early January. Since then, the royal couple has experienced one premiere after another."
