The production of the fourth "Bridget Jones" film seemed to be plagued by bad luck, as various reports from the British "The Sun" revealed. For instance, one of the main actors reportedly suffered a bone fracture in June. Then, the film shoot allegedly annoyed prominent residents such as musician Harry Styles (30) or Oscar winner Rami Malek (43) in North London. Most recently, "The Sun" even reported that bats caused the shoot to be interrupted. But now, there's finally some good news: "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy", the title of the film, has wrapped and is in the can.

"See you on Valentine's Day"

That the filming in England was successfully completed was announced by the production company Working Title Films on X. "Shoot wrapped. See you on Valentine's Day," reads the post, once again confirming the already known release date on the US streaming service Peacock on Valentine's Day 2025. Fans had previously feared that problems with the shoot might cause a delay in the film's release. In Germany, "Bridget Jones 4" is set to hit cinemas.

Cast and plot of "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy"

In the upcoming film, franchise star Renée Zellweger (55) once again portrays the lovable lead, who is now a widow and mother of two. Hugh Grant (63) returns as the lovelorn Daniel Cleaver, after his death in the final moments of the previous film, "Bridget Jones' Baby," was revised. Emma Thompson (65), who also starred in the third film, returns. New additions to the cast include Chiwetel Ejiofor (47), known for "12 Years a Slave," and "The White Lotus" star Leo Woodall (27), who plays a younger man with whom Bridget Jones has a casual affair.

As reported by the British "Daily Mail", Oscar winner Colin Firth (63), who played Mark Darcy in all three previous "Bridget Jones" films, is set to make a brief return. Firth was reportedly seen on set during the filming of a scene. Since his character has died in the film's storyline, it remains unclear whether this was a flashback or a dream sequence.

The production company, Working Title Films, announced that "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy" has been fully filmed and is now in post-production, as stated in their post, "Shoot wrapped. See you on Valentine's Day." This announcement is significant as it follows the numerous challenges faced by 'The Commission' during the filming process.

In line with the ongoing production, as reported by the British "Daily Mail", Oscar winner Colin Firth is speculated to make a return to the "Bridget Jones" series, although his reappearance remains somewhat enigmatic in the film's narrative, potentially as a flashback or dream sequence.
