Fifth Wedding for Media Tycoon Murdoch at Age 93
Rupert Murdoch, at 93, seems to have found excitement in getting married just as much as buying newspapers and publishing companies. His endeavor in re union comes after four unsuccessful marriages.
Recently, media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, 93, tied the knot with his 67-year-old partner, Elena Shukova. The ceremony took place at Murdoch's winery in California over the weekend, as reported in 'The Sun' under their parent company NGN. A picture of the newlywed pair was also included.
Shukova, a former molecular biologist, had migrated to the US from Russia. Her entrepreneurial daughter, Dascha, has been previously associated with Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Murdoch's eventful personal life has previously grabbed headlines frequently. He announced his engagement to the widow of country singer Chester Smith, who was then 66 years old, in the previous year. However, after just two weeks, he severed the relationship abruptly, as indicated by the 'New York Times' at the time.
A Married Man Since Youth
Having been born in Australia, Murdoch became a US citizen in 1985. He's one of the most influential media entrepreneurs globally, with his portfolio including controversial news channel Fox News and the Wall Street Journal in the States, as well as British tabloids such as the Sun and The Times. Forbes' magazine estimated his media empire's worth at around $20 billion ($18.3 billion euros).
Back in 1956, Murdoch married an Australian stewardess, Patricia Booker. They split in 1967. After that union, Murdoch spent more than three decades with the newspaper journalist Anna Torv, marrying her in 1969 and divorcing in 1999. His third marriage to Wendi Deng, a Chinese-American businessperson, ended in 2013. Finally, in March 2016, he married Jerry Hall, a former model and previous partner of Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones, with whom he parted ways in the summer of 2022. Murdoch is a father to six children.
