FC Bayern suffers setback in the premier class
First loss in the Champions League: FC Bayern's women's soccer team head into the winter break with a defeat. The German champions lose narrowly at Ajax Amsterdam and now have to worry about progressing.
FC Bayern's women's soccer team have suffered a setback in the Champions League. After the setback in the Bundesliga with the draw at 1:1 FC Nuremberg, the German champions lost 0:1 (0:1) at Ajax Amsterdam. As a result, the Munich team had to relinquish the lead in Group C.
In fact, they even dropped to third place because Paris St. Germain won 3:1 (1:0) at AS Roma. It was the first defeat for coach Alexander Straus' team since the 5-0 loss in the cup semi-final against VfL Wolfsburg last April.
In an intense encounter at the Johan Cruijff Arena, Romee Leuchter scored for the Dutch champions shortly before the break (44'). The lead was not undeserved at this point. The hosts had more and also the better chances. The Munich side repeatedly launched their attacks through Giuila Gwinn, who had come into the team after the draw in the Bundesliga. However, this did not create any serious danger.
After goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs had saved the Munich side from going further behind (50'), the visitors pressed for an equalizer with increasing determination. However, all their attempts were unsuccessful and they lacked precision in finishing. Amsterdam goalkeeper Regina van Eijk also put in a good performance.
