FC Bayern signs Spanish international
RB Leipzig probably wanted him, but FC Bayern will get him: Spain's attacking talent Zaragoza will move to Munich in the summer of 2024. A long-term contract awaits the high-flyer there. This is a problem for the Saxons, but naturally not for FC Bayern.
FC Bayern Munich is strengthening its squad for the new season with Spanish attacking talent Bryan Zaragoza. The 22-year-old is moving from FC Granada to the Bundesliga, as the German soccer champions announced on Wednesday. Bayern will then sign the striker to a five-year contract until June 2029. The transfer, which was agreed between Bayern, Granada and the player, had previously been reported by the portal "Sportbuzzer" and the TV channel Sky.
"Bryan is one of the high-flyers in Spain and has been on our radar for some time. He will expand our attacking options," said Bayern's sporting director Christoph Freund and went on to praise him: "Bryan Zaragoza is a strong, very fast and extremely agile winger who can play on both sides. He is unpredictable, dangerous and very good in one-on-one situations."
The serial champions did not reveal any financial details about the transfer. Media reports are talking about a transfer fee of 15 million euros, which is even higher than the transfer fee of 14 million euros stipulated in a release clause. Spanish broadcaster El Chiringuito TV first reported on the deal.
RB Leipzig comes away empty-handed
Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig were also reportedly keen to acquire the left winger as a successor to Swede Emil Forsberg, who moved to sister club New York in the winter. English Premier League club FC Brentford were also said to be interested.
At just 1.64 meters tall, Zaragoza made his debut for the Spanish national team in October and has been one of the positive surprises of the season in the league. Zaragoza, who can also play in the center, has played 51 competitive matches for Granada so far. He has scored ten goals and provided three assists - five goals and two assists this season alone.
"We wish him every success with Granada FC for the rest of the season and look forward to him joining us in the summer," said Freund.

FC Bayern Munich's acquisition of Bryan Zaragoza has sparked transfers and rumors, as English Premier League club FC Brentford and RB Leipzig were also reportedly interested in the Spanish attacking talent. Despite Los Blancos securing his services for the summer of 2024, Zaragoza's impressive form and versatility continue to captivate soccer fans, having made his debut for the Spanish national team and showcasing his skills with 10 goals and 3 assists in 51 competitive matches for FC Granada.
