FC Bayern is facing a big transfer double pack
From the Supervisory Board comes the clear message: Before FC Bayern Munich can continue shopping, players must first leave. This is now apparently being implemented, as the decision-makers have tied up a multi-million euro package with Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Bayern Munich faces the first necessary player sales. The German football record champion has reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of central defender Matthijs de Ligt and right-back Noussair Mazraoui. The duo is said to bring in 60 million euros for the FC Bayern, with a further 10 million possible through bonuses. This is reported by the portal "The Athletic", which belongs to the "New York Times".
De Ligt is said to sign a five-year contract with United, with an option for an additional season. The Munich-based club had brought the Dutch national player from Juventus Turin in the summer of 2022 for 70 million euros. Mazraoui had come from Ajax Amsterdam in 2022.
The Munich-based club would thus fulfill the requirement of honorary president Uli Hoeneß, who had imposed an purchasing stop. First, players must be sold, Hoeneß had said. So far, the Bayern have spent around 130 million euros on Joao Palhinha, Michael Olise and Hiroki Ito. In addition, loan player Josip Stanisic returned as a double winner from Bayer Leverkusen. Ito, for whom the FC Bayern has to transfer up to 30 million euros to VfB Stuttgart, had however sustained a metatarsal fracture in the preparation and will not be available to coach Vincent Kompany for some time.
There have recently been conflicting reports about a supposed interest of the record champion in Leverkusen's central defender Jonathan Tah. According to information from "Kicker", the FC Bayern has distanced itself from the commitment of the national player in this transfer period - regardless of the realization of high-profile departures. With Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Eric Dier, the FC Bayern would have only three trained high-caliber central defenders left in case of de Ligt's departure until Ito's return.
Bayern Munich's decision to sell players is instrumental in their ability to continue signing new ones, as demonstrated by the reported transfer of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. With these sales, Bayern stands to earn 60 million euros, plus potential bonuses.
Regardless of the high-profile departures, Bayern Munich will still have a limited number of high-caliber central defenders, with only Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim, and Eric Dier remaining, after the possible departure of Matthijs de Ligt.
