FC Bayern avoids farewell to Thomas Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel's time with FC Bayern Munich is almost up, as everyone knew since February. But when it came time for his final home game, there was no grand farewell in front of the big crowd.
Instead, the club spokesperson announced in the jam-packed Allianz Arena that they wouldn't be saying goodbye to Tuchel or his coaching team during this struggling season's game against VfL Wolfsburg. Bayern's season-ending goal is to protect their second-place spot in the table. Although Tuchel's departure was set from the end of the season after a disappointing 3-2 loss at VfL Bochum back in February, there was a flicker of hope.
Tuchel had already expressed his nonchalance about a grand send-off, stating "you don't need to give flowers for a contract termination without a title." He signed up with Bayern Munich aiming for victories, winning only one of the seven possible titles over his 15-month tenure.
With quite a few rejections including from potential choices like Ralf Rangnick and Xabi Alonso, Bayern is still searching for their next head coach. A petition with tens of thousands of supporters showed they want to keep their coach despite the announcement of his departure.
Amidst all this, Tuchel hinted at the possibility of staying beyond his original contract end date, even if he confirms the summer severance. "Anything is always possible," he said with a hint of a smile but quickly clarified, "the agreement stands."
Tuchel has yet to consider his future plans: "I have no idea. I'll calmly think about it. It was supposed to be different here, but things have been clear since February." Tuchel has had no chats with other teams due to his entire focus on Bayern. His exit seemed final when in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, Bayern missed their opportunity for a title.

Despite the club's search for a new head coach after Tuchel's departure was announced, the FC Bayern Munich fans have shown their support for the outgoing coach with a petition.In light of the petition and Tuchel's hint of potentially staying beyond his contract end date, FC Bayern Munich's future in soccer with Thomas Tuchel remains uncertain.
