Famed Melt Festival comes to an end.

The location is famous: For 25 years, people could dance at the Melt Festival on the old brown coal mining grounds of Sachsen-Anhalt. Unfortunately, the organizers have announced that it will soon come to an end due to "several factors."

Music enthusiasts who love the Melt music festival in Ferropolis, Sachsen-Anhalt, will have to say goodbye this summer. The event, which has been happening since 1997, will take place for the last time this year, as the organizers revealed on their social media and website.

"Sadly, we must inform you that this year's Melt Festival will be the last one. Because of some factors, we cannot continue with it. If someone had told us back in 1997, our first year, that the Melt Festival would still exist in 2024, we would have thought they were nuts. In 1999, we found our spot in Ferropolis and have been having a blast, partying, and creating memorable moments ever since for 25 years," the Melt organizers share.

Their goal has always been to create "exclusive and extraordinary experiences, providing a place where one can let go and get lost in music and the night." Thanks to their amazing "Melt family," this dream became a reality: "We'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you all: for your love, dedication, and the unforgettable memories we've shared."

No further details regarding the reasons for the festival's cancellation were disclosed. Melt has been happening since 1997, and since 1999, the Ferropolis site of a former brown coal mine in Graefenhainichen (Wittenberg district) with its retired excavators has served as a magical setting.

For one final time, attendees can dance with their friends from July 11 to 13 at the "Baggerstadt" (Excavator City). Some of the artists confirmed to perform are the British pop trio Sugababes, the German electronic producer DJ Koze, and Domiziana and Paula Hartmann. Before the pandemic, Melt drew around 25,000 visitors annually.
