Splash! - The Promi Pool Quiz - Everything for the new show of Sophia Thomalla

A large pool, large balls, and wet promises: That's what the new RTL gameshow by Sophia Thomalla (34) offers. The first of two episodes airs today, July 24, at 8:15 pm. The second episode follows a week later on July 31. In each episode, a total of 20 celebrities will participate in four teams, answering questions in ten rounds - and answering them correctly, or they'll get soaked.

"It's a really nice summer thing," gushes Thomalla, the host of the RTL show "Punkt 8". "For me, it was definitely funny and I had a lot of fun," the hostess adds, staying dry throughout the spectacle.

How it's played

Six ramps with large balls are set up in front of a large pool. Each represents an answer option. The five members of a celebrity team must choose one and position themselves accordingly. Anyone who chooses incorrectly - that is, gives a wrong answer - will be mercilessly pushed into the water by the rolling ball and eliminated from the game. A total of ten rounds are played. With each eliminated contestant, one wrong answer option disappears, but there are always as many correct ones as there are celebrities still in the game.

The goal is to stay in the game as long as possible to collect money for the team pot. Up to 25,000 Euro can be won by the teams. However, after the ten rounds, at least one celebrity must still be dry.

The celebrities participating

A total of 40 celebrities sign up for the wet challenge in eight teams - four teams in each episode. In the first broadcast, "Team Moderation" consists of Frauke Ludowig, Mareile Höppner, Gülcan Kamps, Bella Lesnik, and Angela Finger-Erben. Bruce Darnell and Evelyn Burdecki are also part of the team, along with Rúrik Gíslason, Cathy Hummels, and Franziska Knuppe, making up "Team Pool Beauties".

Ross Antony, Lorenz Büffel, Menderes Bağci, Joey Heindle, and Loona form "Team Summerjam". "Team Aquafitness" gathers former professional athletes Nadine Angerer, Philipp Boy, Pascal Hens, Sabrina Mockenhaupt, and Ralf Moeller. Max Bornmann, Yasin Mohamed, Tommy Pedroni, René Casselly, and Serkan Yavuz make up "Team Poolboys".

In "Team der Rosen", former "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants Mimi Gwozdz, Paul Janke, Yeliz Koc, Filip Pavlović, and Dominik Stuckmann join forces. Jenny Elvers, Antonia Hemmer, Claudia Obert, Pam Pengco, and Cora Schumacher are part of "Team VIP Bereich". In "Team Bauer sucht Frau" are former participants of the RTL dating show: Anja and Bruno, Antje and Arne, and Michael K.

Sophia Thomalla talks about the first episode

Beforehand, Thomalla revealed on "Punkt 8" that she had "a really bad conscience". She had to at least passively throw one of her biggest idols into the pool. "That was a bit painful to watch."

During the broadcast, "Splash! The Celebrity Pool Quiz" can also be watched live on RTL+.
