Eriksson scores in Paris: Bayern women win 1:0

FC Bayern Munich's women's soccer team have landed their first win in this year's Champions League group stage.

The German champions and Bundesliga leaders won 1:0 (1:0) at Paris St. Germain after an effective and concentrated performance. Sweden's Magdalena Erikson scored the goal of the day for the Munich side in the 21st minute.

Coach Alexander Straus' team thus showed a strong reaction to the 2:2 draw at home against AS Roma a week ago. Their next opponent on the road to the quarter-finals will be Ajax Amsterdam on December 14. The Bayern women have never won the title in the premier class.

The Munich side took advantage of a free-kick from Klara Bühl, which captain Glodis Viggosdottir headed across, to take the lead through Eriksson. Lea Schüller missed a great chance to make it 2-0 shortly afterwards, but Paris, led by long-injured goalscorer Marie-Antoinette Katoto, otherwise kept the game evenly poised in the first half.

After the break, Bayern goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs saved a shot from the speedy Tabitha Chawinga with a foot save. Otherwise, the 2021 and 2022 semi-finalists - as in the previous 2-0 defeat in Amsterdam - failed to produce enough goals in a number of promising attacks.

During the Champions League match, FC Bayern Munich's women managed to secure a 1-0 victory over Paris St. Germain with Magdalena Eriksson scoring the winning goal. Despite FC Bayern Munich's strong performance, they have yet to claim the title in the Champions League's premier class, aiming to do so against Ajax Amsterdam on December 14.
