Erik ten Hag will continue as Manchester United's manager after fruitful discussions between the team and the coach.
A source close to the situation informed CNN Sport on Wednesday that after a thorough evaluation of the 2023-24 season, United has decided to keep Erik ten Hag as their manager. This decision was made following constructive conversations between the team and the Dutch coach.
United and ten Hag are now discussing the possibility of extending his current contract, which expires after the 2024-25 season. His current deal has an additional year extension option.
Ten Hag was brought on board from Ajax ahead of the 2022-23 season. In his two years with United, he has managed to secure at least one trophy in each campaign. The club won the Carabao Cup in his first season and then triumphed against Manchester City in the FA Cup final in May to add another trophy to their collection.
However, the Premier League season that just concluded was not a successful one for United, as they finished eighth with a negative goal difference - a disappointing achievement for a team with such rich history. It was also United's worst finish in the league since its inception in 1992.
CNN's Kevin Dotson provided coverage on this development.
