England bids farewell to soccer legend Bobby Charlton
Thousands of people have paid their last respects to English soccer legend Bobby Charlton in Manchester. The 1966 World Cup winner died last month at the age of 86.

Numerous fans bid farewell to the Manchester United icon as the funeral procession with the coffin passed Old Trafford stadium, according to the British news agency PA.
Kane pays tribute to "the greatest English player"
The British heir to the throne and President of the English Football Association (FA), Prince William, England's national coach Gareth Southgate and ManU coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson were among those who attended the funeral service in Manchester Cathedral.
Charlton, whose coffin was adorned with white roses, was revered as a national hero in England. He had won the 1966 World Cup title with the English national team in his own country with a 4:2 win over West Germany. The long-serving Manchester United professional had been suffering from dementia since 2020.
Many reacted with dismay to the news of his death. England's former captain David Beckham posted a childhood photo of himself with Charlton. National team captain and Bayern star Harry Kane paid tribute to him as one of the "greatest English players". Record-breaking German international Lothar Matthäus said that Charlton was "like Uwe Seeler for Germany, a role model for all soccer fans in England".
In the wake of Sir Bobby Charlton's passing, former England captain David Beckham shared a heartfelt childhood photo with him on social media. Harry Kane, the current England national team captain and Bayern star, also paid tribute to Charlton, recognizing him as one of the "greatest English players".
