Eight scores propel Oilers closer to "stunning triumph" in their bid.

Hockeysuperstar Leon Draisaitlis still holding onto the dream of his first Stanley Cup victory: His team, the Edmonton Oilers, have made a stunning turnaround in the NHL's Stanley Cup Final series. But, the road to this miracle comeback is still a long one.

The Edmonton Oilers have pulled off an awesome comeback in the Stanley Cup Final of the North American hockey league NHL. Facing the Florida Panthers, the team led by Leon Draisaitl won 8:1 at home and reduced the series deficit to 1:3. A total of four wins are needed for the Stanley Cup.

The Oilers managed to breeze through the pressure-filled opening phase of the Panthers unharmed and started off in style. First, Mattias Janmark scored into an empty net (4th minute). Then, Adam Henrique finished off a smart pass (8th). Florida managed to come back through Vladimir Tarasenko with a fortunate bounce (12th), but Dylan Holloway answered back to a numbers advantage on a pass from Draisaitl for the 3:1 (15th). For the German, it was his first contribution in the ongoing finals.

The Oilers continued to play with confidence in the second period. Connor McDavid extended the lead with his first goal in the series (22nd). Darnell Nurse scored a power-play goal to complete the strong performance of the previously impressive Panthers goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky (25th). And Edmonton also scored the first power-play goal of the final series through Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for a commanding 6:1 lead (34th).

In the third period, the Panthers tried to fight back, but they failed multiple times against the outstanding Stuart Skinner (97% save percentage). Once again, it was the Oilers who established the final score of 8:1 through Holloway (55th) and Ryan McLeod (57th).

Game five returns to Florida. The Panthers get another chance to secure their first Stanley Cup for their franchise history on Wednesday night. So far, only one team has managed to turn around such a deficit in the Stanley Cup Final, the Toronto Maple Leafs did it in 1942 against the Detroit Red Wings.
