Eberl criticizes Hoeneß for alleged inconsistencies in Bayern's management

At the end of the Bundesliga season, Uli Hoeneß causes stir at FC Bayern and receives massive criticism. His sports director at FC Bayern, Max Eberl, is not pleased about it. Despite Hoeneß' feud with ex-coach Thomas Tuchel, he expresses a special thanks to the Bayern patron.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß has been in the limelight of criticism at FC Bayern in the past few months. His statements regarding ex-coach Thomas Tuchel or alleged upcoming player transfers in public were negatively interpreted. Sporting Director Max Eberl has now clearly taken Hoeneß' side and made his stance clear.

In an interview with "Welt", Eberl clarified how much he profits from the legacy of the Bayern patron in his daily work. "That we can work under such conditions here is a great achievement of FC Bayern. And that's not least due to Uli Hoeneß", said Eberl. He emphasized that it was mainly Hoeneß' legacy that enabled Munich to spend more than 120 million Euro for new signings Joao Palhinha, Michael Olise, and Hiroki Ito in the ongoing transfer period.

"He always does everything for FC Bayern"

The 50-year-old continued about Honorary President Hoeneß: "I would like to make it clear with all due emphasis that he has been exposed to criticism lately, which was not only false but also completely inappropriate. Everything he does, he does for FC Bayern", so Eberl about Hoeneß, who was also a significant supporter of Eberl's appointment as sports director in March of this year.

Hoeneß was the one, according to Eberl, who "has earned this economic advantage for FC Bayern through his decades of commitment over many other Bundesliga clubs." Hoeneß was active as the club president of FC Bayern until 2019. Currently, he is still involved in the affairs of the German record champion as a member of the supervisory board and continues to take regular public appearances. At these appearances, he recently leaned out of the window again and started a feud with Tuchel.

Eberl's support for Hoenneß extends to the soccer field as well. During a transfer period, Hoenneß's legacy allowed FC Bayern Munich to acquire top talents like Joao Palhinha, Michael Olise, and Hiroki Ito for over 120 million Euros, boosting the team's squad in the Football-Bundesliga.

Despite the criticism Hoenneß faced following his public disputes with former coach Thomas Tuchel, Max Eberl, the sports director of FC Barcelona Munich's sister club, vigorously defended Hoenneß, highlighting his substantial contributions to the club and his unwavering dedication to FC Bayern's success.
