Düsseldorf's Magomedov loses UFC fight in the lion's den

After losing to the now reigning middleweight champion Sean Strickland, Düsseldorf MMA fighter Abus Magomedov was beaten on points by Brazilian Caio Borralho at UFC São Paulo (27-30, 28-29, 28-29). The local hero was only able to get the better of the 33-year-old in the third round.

The German's entrance was accompanied by boos and whistles, while Borralho, who lives in the Brazilian metropolis, was already being celebrated by the crowd. The fighter from the Düsseldorf UFD Gym started the first round less offensively than against Strickland. Both fighters tried to create opportunities to score with feints and quick movements. While Magomedov was able to score points with kicks to the Brazilian's leg and body, Borralho's jab was a proven weapon time and again. Magomedov confidently fended off a takedown attempt midway through the round. One minute before the end of the round, one of Magomedov's fingers landed in his opponent's eye and the fight was resumed after a short break.

In round two, the cage duel remained a very close fight. The Brazilian, who had been unbeaten for eight years, was at a disadvantage against Magomedov in terms of the frequency of his punches, but he appeared much more agile and deliberate in his actions. Every time the man from Düsseldorf shifted into forward gear, the Brazilian countered with hooks. Borralho also landed the better shots with his jab. The punches Magomedov received resulted in a cut under his eye.

Magomedov runs out of steam again

In round three, Magomedov's fitness problems became noticeable. Once again, one might say, as stamina had already made the difference in the last fight against Strickland. The 33-year-old Magomedov had previously controlled the middle of the octagon for two rounds, but now Borralho set the tone. The Brazilian's jab landed again and again and Magomedov was largely unable to find effective answers.

When an elbow strike from Borralho went through the German's guard, he had to take a short breather - a fatal signal in terms of body language, as the Brazilian immediately followed up and landed a powerful hook. The local hero then landed a jumping knee to the head of the Düsseldorf fighter, who was visibly shaken. The fight then shifted to the ground and Magomedov was breathing heavily. Although he was able to fend off the submission attempts, he lost the round. In the end, he lost on points and Magomedov's year in the UFC ended with two defeats.

Despite Magomedov's attempt to regain momentum in the third round, his fatigue was evident, a recurring issue that cost him the UFC fight against Borralho, just like his bout against Strickland. (Brazilian, Home advantage, Düsseldorfer, Magomedov, UFC fight)

The crowd in Düsseldorf, on the other hand, showed little support for Magomedov, much like how the 'Lions' Den' in Brazil welcomed Borralho with cheers and celebration. (Düsseldorfer, Magomedov, UFC fight, Cave, Lions)

Borralho, who thrived on the home advantage, delivered powerful blows in the third round, effectively exploiting Magomedov's waning stamina and securing the points victory. (Brazilian, Magomedov, UFC fight, Home advantage)
