During my latest check-up, I found myself engulfed in a fierce dispute.
For a while now, the opinions of football analyst Dietmar Hamann haven't sat well with FC Bayern's sports director Max Eberl. Eberl's reaction to Hamann's latest comments about Harry Kane has been one of irritation. The current point of contention is Hamann's critical remarks towards the English striker.
Eberl, showing signs of annoyance before Bayern's upcoming league match against Eintracht Frankfurt, described Hamann as akin to a bothersome ringing in the ears that surfaces every three days. This medical condition, known as tinnitus, causes constant ringing or buzzing in the ears.
Following a goalless performance from Kane in Bayern's Bundesliga top game against Bayer Leverkusen (1:1) and their first Champions League loss away at Aston Villa (0:1), Hamann voiced his concerns in his Sky column. He stated, "I already said after the Euros this summer that he still needs to prove he's worth 100 million, even if he scored over 30 goals last year." Kane signed with Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur last year.
Eberl didn't specifically address Hamann's criticism during his press conference for the Frankfurt game on Saturday. In the past, Hamann has often provoked the authorities at his previous club with provocative statements, even annoying former coach Thomas Tuchel multiple times last season. Hamann stressed, "Kane wasn't brought to Bayern Munich to score a hat-trick against Darmstadt. He was brought to score against Leverkusen and Aston Villa and in the Champions League quarter-finals. So far, he hasn't done that." He continues to hold skepticism towards Bayern's record-breaking transfer.
Kane has the chance to disprove Hamann's criticism in Frankfurt with an impressive performance and goals. In this upcoming match, the duel between two of this season's top scorers takes place. Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush leads the Bundesliga goalscorers list with six goals, while Kane sits in second place with five. In the total of eight competitive matches this season, the Englishman has scored ten goals for FC Bayern.
Eberl expressed his disapproval of Hamann's continuous criticism towards Kane, stating, "It's tiresome to always hear negative comments about our players from the likes of Hamann in the media." Despite facing criticism, Kane has an opportunity to improve his performance and silence Hamann's criticism during Bayern's encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt, a match that also features top scorer Omar Marmoush.
