During a preseason contest against the Chiefs, Chicago Bears player Douglas Coleman III was taken off the field on a stretcher.

In the third quarter's later stages, Coleman suffered an injury while attempting to tackle Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver Cornell Powell. He hit the ground hard and appeared unmoving as both teams' players knelt down and medical personnel tended to him.

Eventually, Coleman was assisted onto a stretcher and transferred to a medical cart. His Bears teammates and coaches approached the cart to offer their support and encouragement.

The crowd at Arrowhead Stadium converged to show their appreciation as Coleman was wheeled off the field, giving his departure a touching note.

The Bears continued their winning streak, securing a 34-21 victory over the Chiefs to finish the preseason with an unblemished 4-0 record.

Post-match, Bears coach Matt Eberflus announced that Coleman displayed motion in his limbs and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

“From my vantage point on the Chiefs' sideline, I observed him moving his limbs. He even gave us a thumbs up, which proved to be inspiring for our team, yet I possess no additional details beyond that,” Eberflus shared. “Currently, he's undergoing evaluations at the hospital.”

CBS has sought further information on Coleman's condition from the Bears management staff.

The 26-year-old safety, draft-evadee in the 2020 NFL Draft, spent the previous two seasons playing professional football in the Canadian Football League, specifically for the team from Texas Tech University. He inked a futures contract with the Bears this off-season.

After the game, Coleman's teammates discussed their favorite moments from his career, often highlighting his passion for various sports.Despite the injury, Coleman's team spirit remained high, with reports suggesting he was watching the team's post-match press conference from the hospital.
