Dunja Hayali presents in a pink DFB jersey

It's the EM quarterfinals between Germany and Denmark - Dunja Hayali is a fan, but she also has to work. She unexpectedly hosted "heute journal" in a pink Germany national soccer team jersey. During the halftime break of the EM quarterfinals between the German team and Denmark, the bright fabric stood out - even though she wore a black blazer over it.

The confessing Borussia Mönchengladbach fan was appropriately dressed for the game, which the show was embedded in. Her co-host Hanna Zimmermann, however, wore no football-related clothing, but a red dress instead.

The pink jersey caused quite a stir during the presentation and sparked heated discussions. Critics accused the DFB of having a "woke" attitude, the team "must" represent a diverse, open society. There were also references that the color was unmanly. Hayali is criticized by opponents for her open-minded attitude and stance against the right.

At the beginning of the European Championship, a ZDF moderator caused a stir fashionably. Katrin Müller-Hohenstein wore Bart Simpson socks during her moderation from the studio for the opening match of Germany against Scotland. This went viral on social media, where she received both praise and criticism.

The 58-year-old later revealed on "Antenne Bayern" that her son and his friends had convinced her to wear the noticeable socks. She thought that no one would see the unusual socks because she wore long pants. "So it wasn't my intention to make a big deal out of it, but in the end, it was quite nice," said Müller-Hohenstein.

Despite the controversy surrounding the pink jersey, Dunja Hayali remains unbothered and continues to support the National soccer team. In light of the European Football Championship 2024, fans and critics alike are eager to see how the team and its supporters will represent diversity on the international stage.
