Dramatic collision determines Formula 1 podium in Baku
In the typical Formula 1 race in Baku, the champion Verstappen found himself lagging behind, while Norris surpassed him. Up front, Leclerc and Piastri engaged in a tight battle for the victory. However, Leclerc decided to slow down, giving Sainz and Perez an opportunity to snatch some points. Sadly, their competition came to an end on the penultimate lap, as they collided and ended up in the barrier.
In this race, it was Piastri in the McLaren who clinched the victory in Azerbaijan. Leclerc, despite his best efforts in the Ferrari, had to settle for second place. Russell from Mercedes finished third, following a thrilling crash involving Pérez from Red Bull and Sainz from Ferrari close to the completion of the race. Although Verstappen was the defending champion, he could only manage to secure the fifth position in the second Red Bull. Despite starting from the 15th position, Norris in the McLaren displayed a powerful performance, moving up to fourth place, narrowing the gap in the championship competition.
