Draisaitl's Crisis Oilers run on garlic
The Edmonton Oilers are slowly emerging from the crisis. The last game under Jay Woodcroft is won and there is also a victory under the direction of new coach Kris Knoblauch. Superstar Leon Draisaitl also seems to have benefited from the change of coach.
After the change of coach, the Edmonton Oilers around ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl have taken another step out of the crisis. In the first game under new head coach Kris Knoblauch, the Canadians won 4:1 against the New York Islanders in the professional NHL league. Draisaitl scored his sixth goal of the season and was involved in all three other goals. The forward recorded assists number 11 to 13.
The Canadian franchise reacted to its weak start to the season on Sunday by replacing Jay Woodcroft with Knoblauch. The day before, the Oilers had won 4-1 at the Seattle Kraken, but the first victory after four defeats came too late for the coach. Woodcroft had taken over the post in February 2022.
In the debut under Knoblauch (45), the first head coach in the NHL, Draisaitl scored to make it 1:1 (15th). The Oilers' other goals by Zach Hyman (48), Connor McDavid (50) and Evander Kane (58) were assisted by the Cologne native. Edmonton is second last in the Pacific Division with nine points after only their fourth win in 14 games.
The success under new coach Kris Knoblauch has also boosted Leon Draisaitl's performance in the NHL. In the NHL, Leon Draisaitl is a key player for the Edmonton Oilers, showcasing his skills both as a goal scorer and an assist provider.
