Doncic leads Dallas to seventh win of the season with 44 points

The Dallas Mavericks have notched up their seventh win in the ninth NBA game of the season thanks to Luka Doncic. The superstar scored 44 points to lead the Texans to a 144:126 (77:51) home win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Doncic broke the 40-point mark in a game for the second time this season.

Doncic hit an outstanding 17 of his 21 shots from the field. The Texans did particularly well in offense in the second quarter, which they dominated by 47:18. The Mavericks pulled away there with a 33:4 run. German international basketball player Maxi Kleber was once again missing for Dallas due to a toe injury. The Clippers also lost their third game since the signing of superstar James Harden.

The win against the Clippers counts double for the Mavericks: the NBA games on Friday (local time) not only count towards the main round, but also towards the new tournament format introduced this season. The 30 teams have been divided into six groups and a winner will be determined in a knockout format at the beginning of December. The NBA hopes that this tournament will increase the excitement during the regular season.

James with 32 points in Lakers victory

LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 122:119 (55:63) away win over the Phoenix Suns. The 38-year-old superstar shone with 32 points, eleven rebounds and six assists. The Lakers turned the game around with an 11:0 start to the fourth quarter to record their fourth win of the season. Kevin Durant scored 38 points for the Suns.

The team with the best form in the North American professional basketball league remains the Philadelphia 76ers: The Sixers beat the Detroit Pistons 114:106 (48:56) to remain unbeaten in seven games. Joel Embiid (33 points, 16 rebounds) and Tyrese Maxey (29 points, 11 assists) each scored a double-double. Philadelphia had recently traded away disgruntled superstar James Harden in a player swap.
