Didn't get a European Championship ticket? And now?
Thousands of people are disappointed when they check their email inboxes. After the end of the first sales phase in October, confirmations for tickets for the European Football Championship 2024 were supposed to be sent out by today.
However, over 20 million requests were received from all over the world for the 1.2 million tickets - a lottery had to be held. However, those who were unsuccessful will soon get their next chance.
The timetable
The next sales phase will begin after the draw on December 2 in Hamburg. It will then be clear on which days and in which stadiums top teams such as England, Spain and France will play their preliminary round matches. And also which opponents Germany can expect. 21 of the 24 European Championship participants will then be confirmed, with three more to follow after the play-offs in March. This will be followed by a further phase in which supporters of the three play-off qualifiers will be able to purchase tickets. A so-called last-minute sale is planned shortly before the tournament and during the tournament for the knockout round.
The offer
Around one million tickets will be available in the second sales phase. Especially for fans of the qualified teams, who can now apply for tickets for their teams. Applications can be submitted to UEFA from December 2, and two days later via the national associations of the qualified teams. As with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, there will be no paper tickets. UEFA is relying on an exclusively digital concept.
The resale
"If you have been successful in the draw, you must pay for all the tickets you have been allocated," writes UEFA. Depending on the order, this can be quite expensive. Resale is then only permitted via the official UEFA platform - probably from spring 2024. "We therefore recommend that fans only apply for matches that they actually want to attend," writes UEFA.
If you missed out on securing tickets during the first sales phase for the EM 2024, don't lose hope. The next opportunity will be after the draw on December 2, when UEFA opens the second sales phase for tickets, offering around one million tickets for soccer fans worldwide. [UEFA] is planning to hold a last-minute sale shortly before the tournament and during the knockout round, so even if you're not successful in the initial draws, you may still have a chance to obtain tickets for your favorite UEFA Euro 2024 matches.
