Did FC Bayern already make a 90-million offer?
FC Bayern has identified Xavi Simons as its transfer target. Rumors are circulating that Munich's giants have already sent a multi-million dollar offer for the Dutchman. A man at the record champions is reportedly pushing for the transfer.
FC Bayern is actively pursuing the signing of midfielder Xavi Simons. However, it is unclear how far the German champions have progressed with their plans regarding the player from Paris Saint-Germain, who was on loan at RB Leipzig last season.
Initially, it was reported by the French sports newspaper "L'Équipe" that Bayern had made an offer worth legendary 90 million Euros to Paris Saint-Germain for Simons, consisting of a loan with an obligation to buy, but "Sky" transfer expert Florian Plettenberg denies this. According to his information, Bayern never made such an offer.
Max Eberl is driving Simons deal at FC Bayern
Meanwhile, "Bild" newspaper has also taken up the speculation from France. The tabloid writes on Thursday afternoon that the poker game around the EM star is gaining momentum. According to this report, Max Eberl, Bayern's sports director, is currently driving the deal at Säbener Strasse. The 50-year-old had contacted Simons at RB Leipzig last summer before he ended his tenure there in late autumn 2023 and joined Munich a few months later.
Meanwhile, Leipzig is also working diligently on a new collaboration with the tempo dribbler, who had an outstanding Bundesliga season with eight goals and eleven assists. However, if Bayern were to actually pay that much money for the 21-year-old, Leipzig would likely be out of the race.
FC Bayern has already confirmed the signings of Hiroki Ito (VfB Stuttgart), Joao Palhinha (FC Fulham), and Michael Olise (Crystal Palace) for the new season. The club has paid over 120 million Euros in fixed transfer fees for the trio alone. Additionally, Bayern is reportedly interested in French talent Desiré Doué from Stade Rennes - who is also being courted by PSG.
The European Football Championship 2024 might see Xavi Simons representing a different team, as his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to FC Bayern Munich is currently under consideration. Despite rumors about a multi-million dollar offer, the exact details of Bayern's progress in negotiating with PSG for the Dutch midfielder remain unclear.
RB Leipzig, where Simons was on loan last season, is also keen on maintaining a relationship with the talented footballer, given his impressive performance in the Football-Bundesliga, scoring eight goals and providing eleven assists.
As FC Bayern's sports director, Max Eberl is actively driving the negotiations for Simons' potential transfer, having previously shown interest in the player while at RB Leipzig.
