DHB women win World Cup opener against Japan
The German handball players have made a successful start to the World Championship. The team of national coach Markus Gaugisch won 31:30 (18:17) against Japan in Herning, Denmark, and thus created a good starting position for the desired entry into the main round.
Top scorer for the German Handball Federation was co-captain Alina Grijseels with seven goals.
The second group match this Saturday will be a clash with Iran. The supposedly toughest group opponent awaits the German team in Poland on December 4 to conclude the preliminary round. Their minimum goal at the tournament in Denmark, Norway and Sweden is to reach the quarter-finals.
The German women's handball national team impressed in their WM opener, defeating Japan 31:30. This victory sets a strong foundation for their pursuit of entering the main round. In their upcoming group match on Saturday, they will face Iran, considered one of the toughest opponents in their group.
