DHB netminder scores twice, Flensburg savors subsequent goal celebration

In Handball Bundesliga's early season, the Rhein-Neckar Lions and SG Flensburg-Handewitt remain undefeated. Flensburg managed to edge past Frisch Auf Göppingen with a scoreline of 37:32 (15:15), while the Lions overcame MT Melsungen with a 31:26 (17:14) victory, extending their win streak to three games. Both teams are currently at the summit of the league table, with the SC Magdeburg and Füchse Berlin having the opportunity to match their unbeaten record.

The renowned Danish Olympian Emil Jakobsen was impressive for Flensburg, scoring a total of ten goals during the match. Flensburg's offense continued to shine, as they exhibited outstanding numbers with a scoreline of 37:32 against SG Flensburg-Handewitt, 42:28 over Erlangen, and 39:25 against TVB Stuttgart.

Melsungen, having already secured two victories at the beginning of the season, gave the Lions a tough fight. The hosts found themselves trailing for a significant portion of the first half, but a series of successful shots from Ivan Martinovic, who became one of Melsungen's top scorers with seven goals, turned the tide in favor of the Lions. Germany's national player Jannik Kohlbacher also contributed with eight goals.

National goalkeeper David Späth put in a solid performance for the Lions, making 15 saves and also managing to score twice. Despite his saves, Späth's performance was less than stellar, finishing the game with a save percentage of nearly 37 percent and a perfect 100 percent scoring rate. Timo Kastening was the most prolific scorer for Melsungen with six goals.

Although SC Magdeburg and Füchse Berlin aim to challenge the Top teams' undefeated record, both the Rhein-Neckar Lions and SG Flensburg-Handewitt continue to dominate, extending their win streaks to three and two games respectively. Emil Jakobsen, a top scorer for Flensburg, impressively netted ten goals during their 37:32 victory over Melsungen.
