DFB Team's Opponent Revealed in European Championship: Settling the Controversy

All groups in the European Football Championship are still undecided in the round of 16: Any team, including Germany, might be opposing the DFB team. Niclas Füllkrug, the star striker, will be closely watching the matches from home. Group D presents its fair share of drama - Poland's chances of progressing are over.

England has already secured a spot in the round of 16, though their performance has been lackluster. Results in the other groups have aided them. If they manage to win against Slovenia (21 hours/ZDF, MagentaTV, and in the ntv.de-Liveticker), they would face Germany in the round of 16.

All teams in Group C still have a chance to advance, even Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia. The group scenario is tight, and all teams could potentially play against Germany coached by Julian Nagelsmann in the round of 16 (21 hours/ZDF, MagentaTV and in the ntv.de-Liveticker).

Poland is the ultimate loser in Group D. With superstar, Robert Lewandowski, the team has already been eliminated after two group matches. The game against France cannot save the Poles anymore (18 hours/MagentaTV). The French team, hoping for striker Kylian Mbappé to play with a mask due to his nasal bone fracture, is already through. The Netherlands are relaxed, playing only for position within the group. Austria can also plan for the knockout stage relatively calmly. Despite a loss of up to three goals against the Netherlands (18 hours/RTL, RTL, MagentaTV and in the ntv.de-Liveticker), they would still be one of the best third-placed teams, as the teams from Hungary (Group A) and Croatia (Group B) would trail behind them in points.

All highlights from the 51 games of the tournament can be found 15 minutes after the end on RTL+. You can catch the RTL EM studio with Jan Köppen, Elton, Jana Wosnitza and experts like Stefan Effenberg, as well as all matches, goals, and emotions every evening at 20.15 hours on RTL and on RTL.

Where can the European Football Championship be watched on TV and in the stream today?

Tuesday, 25. June 2024:

Netherlands - Austria (18 hours/RTL, RTL and MagentaTV*)

France - Poland (18 hours/MagentaTV)

Denmark - Serbia (21 hours/MagentaTV)

England - Slovenia (21 hours/ZDF and MagentaTV)

Niclas Füllkrug, the DFB team's superstar, needs to perform from the start, according to many. The striker scored in each of his substitute appearances against Scotland and Switzerland. Bundesliga record scorer Nils Petersen, who scored 34 joker goals in his career, believes Füllkrug's impact is "bigger than that of many starting players." Füllkrug has "adapted and bonded with this role," Petersen said. He even feels that national coach Julian Nagelsmann "keeps him waiting for a long time to let him store up more rage and unleash it in a few scenes."

Though every pro would prefer to start, Füllkrug admitted "deep down" that he loved and enjoyed it when he came on as a substitute, with the opposing team pretending to pass the ball to him and German fans calling out his name", said the two-time national player Petersen.

The DFB team might face various opponents in the round of 16 due to the EM confusion in group placements. Despite being at home due to an injury, Niclas Füllkrug closely follows the matches, hoping for a comeback opportunity. The WHO guidelines regarding mask usage during the tournament might impact Kylian Mbapp's performance for France's opponent.
