Division II promotion team SSV Ulm is facing a tough challenge in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, as they will be playing against record champions FC Bayern. This matchup was decided at the German Football Museum in Dortmund on Saturday.

A representative from SSV Ulm told ARD that the task ahead is tough, but they and the entire city will strive to make life difficult for Bayern when they meet in the debut match for new Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.

The defending champions Bayer Leverkusen will face Regionalliga side Carl Zeiss Jena in the initial round. Similarly, the vice champions VfB Stuttgart are set to play against second division promoters Preußen Münster, with both Bundesliga teams delaying their start due to the Supercup game.

Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund will take on Regionalliga team 1. FC Phoenix Lübeck in the first round. 1. FC Phoenix Lübeck's president, Thomas Laudi, expressed his shock at the matchup, saying it's the icing on the cake for a successful season. Meanwhile, third-division side Rot-Weiss Essen is expected to host two-time cup winners RB Leipzig. Second division relegated SV Wehen Wiesbaden will be facing off against FSV Mainz 05 in a Rhineland derby.
