Despite victory: World champion Schröder out of the NBA tournament
Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder has missed out on the next round of the in-season tournament despite a win with the Toronto Raptors.
The Canadians won 121:108 against the Chicago Bulls in the North American professional league NBA, but with one win and two defeats they no longer have a chance of progressing in the newly created tournament mode. A well-performing Schröder finished with 17 points and five assists.
The Orlando Magic top the table in the Toronto group. With an outstanding Moritz Wagner, the team from Florida won 113:96 against the Boston Celtics. Wagner scored 27 points, brother Franz scored 17 points. This means that their hopes of making it to the finals in Las Vegas are still intact.
The New York Knicks with Isaiah Hartenstein also still have a chance of reaching the next round after beating the Miami Heat 100:98. Hartenstein had two points and five rebounds for the team from the Big Apple. Daniel Theis and the Los Angeles Clippers lost 106:116 to the New Orleans Pelicans and no longer have a chance of reaching the next round of the tournament. The former Bamberg player scored three points.
