Olympic Games in Paris - Despite terrain fall: Horse rider starts in jumping
Multitalented rider Christoph Wahler will participate in the final jumping event on this Monday despite falling in the terrain. The German team will receive 200 additional penalty points for this. With a total of 278.90 penalty points, the trio only has theoretical chances for a medal. Before the team jumping event, Great Britain leads with 82.50 penalty points.
Wahler's participation is only possible due to a special regulation at the Olympics. While a fall results in disqualification for the entire competition in all eventing competitions, it is possible at the Games to ride again after a positive veterinary check the next day. Wahler's horse Carjatan passed the vet check early on Monday morning. However, Wahler is disqualified for the individual standings.
In the individual event, Michael Jung from Horb leads with Chipmunk and would win gold with two fault-free rounds. Julia Krajewski from Warendorf is in 14th place with Nickel.
