Recently, the renowned German telenovela "Sturm der Liebe", which has been on the air since September 2005 (Mondays to Fridays at 3:10 p.m. on the First Channel), completed its 18th year. However, an upcoming change is anticipated for this long-running series. As per Bavaria Fiction GmbH, it's planned to reduce the length of each episode from 45 minutes to 25 minutes, effective fall of 2025, pending the approval of the board members in the regional broadcasting stations.

The impending change isn't being well-received by some fans of the show. Under a post on Instagram celebrating the telenovela's anniversary, one user shared their displeasure, saying, "I'm saddened by the news that the show is going to be cut."

Another follower expressed their disappointment by stating, "I miss 'Sturm der Liebe' in the afternoons during the summer break and find it particularly sad that the broadcast time is being shortened."

Additionally, there are some fears about the fate of the series as a result of the time reduction, as signified by this comment: "25 minutes, 10 minutes, 0 minutes, and goodbye."

Optimism from producers of 'Sturm der Liebe'

On the other hand, producers Marcus Ammon (since 2021) and executive producer Peter Proske-Clayton (since 2023) are embracing the positive aspects of the situation. Ammon reveals that they're hopeful the show will continue until 2027, saying, "We're thrilled that 'Sturm der Liebe' (pending approval from the board members in the regional broadcasting stations) will receive an extension for two more seasons."

He also suggests they'll open discussions with the team about how the episode length will affect production processes in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Proske-Clayton remains enthusiastic about the situation, adding, "I'm extremely pleased that our 'Sturm der Liebe' was granted an extension for two more seasons until 2027." He also acknowledges the time reduction but remains optimistic, "Even with a shortened broadcast time, we'll continue to narrate diverse stories and perspectives and stay current. 'Sturm der Liebe' is and will always be a modern fairy tale that brings dreams to life. Our fans can look forward to how things unfold at 'Fürstenhof'!"

Additionally, the 21st season is set to continue post-summer break (from May 21st to August 16th).
