DEB team wins opening match at Germany Cup
The national ice hockey team has made a successful start to the Deutschland Cup. In Landshut, the runners-up under national coach Harold Kreis defeated the Danish team 4:1 (0:0, 1:1, 3:0) in their first game after losing the World Championship final against Canada.
In front of 2223 spectators, Leonhard Pföderl (26th minute), Colin Ugbekile (54th), Alexander Ehl (58th) and Maximilian Eisenmenger (60th) scored for the DEB team. Patrick Russell scored for Denmark to equalize the score at 1:1 (40.).
Kreis is resting numerous key players for the home tournament. Only Manuel Wiederer (Eisbären Berlin) and Alexander Ehl (Düsseldorfer EG) from the team that won World Championship silver in Finland in May are taking part.
In the second game, the DEB team will face Austria on Saturday (18:00). The next opponent lost the premiere match against Slovakia clearly with 1:7 (0:4, 1:2, 0:1). Slovakia will be the third opponent on Sunday (2.30 pm/MagentaSport).
