Dallas wide receiver CeeDee Lamb secures fresh contract deal, allegedly positioning him as the NFL's second-highest wage earner, excluding quarterbacks.
Based on various sources, such as NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and data from Spotrac, it's reported that Lamb signed a new contract that spans over 4 years. The total worth of this agreement is an impressive $136 million, with $100 million being guaranteed and a signing bonus of $38 million.
CNN has reached out to the Cowboys to validate the details of this deal.
After confirming the contract, the Cowboys posted a compilation of Lamb's highlights on Instagram with the caption, "You love to CeeDee it."
Lamb's new annual salary of $34 million puts him second among non-quarterbacks in the NFL, only behind Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson who earns $35 million yearly, according to Spotrac.
The Cowboys' plans for the 2024 season had been heavily focused on extending Lamb's contract.
The 25-year-old, who is one of the best at his position in the NFL, missed Dallas' preseason preparations while waiting for a new long-term contract.
However, 13 days before the start of the new season, Lamb agreed to a new deal, allowing the Cowboys to concentrate solely on their Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on September 8.
Shortly after the news broke, Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy shared his thoughts, saying, "It's great to have the contract finalized and to have him back. I was expecting a decision soon, and I'm relieved we got this done."
Lamb concluded a remarkable first-team All-Pro season with the Cowboys by leading the NFL in receptions and breaking multiple franchise records in catches and receiving yards in a single season. He ended the 2023 campaign with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
In his four-year career in the league, Lamb has amassed 395 receptions, 5,145 receiving yards, and 32 receiving touchdowns.
Furthermore, McCarthy also praised Lamb's versatility and impact on the team, stating, "His talent has been evident since he first stepped onto the field. Not only does he excel at every position on the offensive perimeter, but he's also an exceptional returner and loves running the ball. He's more than just talented; he's damn good at everything he does."
Lamb's new contract, worth $136 million over 4 years, is a significant boost to his career in the sport of American football. His new annual salary of $34 million allows him to excel even further on the field, contributing to the Cowboys' success in their upcoming games.
