Cyndi Lauper, the iconic singer behind the hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and aged 70, seems to be gearing up for a bow-out from the stage. The star has declared a farewell tour via Instagram, partnering up with Live Nation. She's set to embark on a farewell journey this fall, performing in a total of 23 North American cities at large arenas before bidding farewell to live performances.
This tour marks Lauper's first significant concert series in over ten years. The moniker for this tour is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell." The curtain raiser of this tour will occur on October 18 in Montreal, Canada, with the grand finale on December 5 at the United Center in Chicago.
Throughout her farewell tour stops crowd favorite cities including Toronto, Detroit, Boston, Washington DC, New York City, Nashville, Columbus, Tampa, Hollywood, Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Dallas, and Austin. European or German dates still lack any concrete planning.
Lately, Cyndi Lauper has made further headlines because her documentary "Let the Canary Sing" is due for its streaming debut on Paramount+. The documentary, initially featured at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, will host Lauper's handprints memorial in the pavement outside the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Friday for the streaming premiere.
