Could the potential new Bayern coach hail from a demoted Premier League squad?

It seems that FC Bayern's search for a new coach is progressing, with a new potential candidate coming on the radar. The man in question is Vincent Kompany, a Belgian player who spent a brief stint at Hamburg and later retired in his homeland at RSC Anderlecht. After moving to England, he became the coach of Burnley FC.

Apparently, talks between Kompany and Bayern have already taken place, as per Sky's reports. However, it's worth noting that Kompany's time at Burnley was not very successful, as he was initially promoted but eventually relegated again this season. Nonetheless, he brings the advantage of being familiar with the Bundesliga, albeit being absent from it for a while.

Kompany first joined German soccer at Hamburg SV, where he played as a defender from 2006 to 2008. After wrapping up his playing career, he took over as coach at RSC Anderlecht before making the move to Burnley. He had a successful stint at Manchester City, where he won the league four times and represented his country in 89 international matches. Kompany's contract with Burnley runs until 2028.

Bayern has experienced numerous rejections in their search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel, who completed his final match with them in the 4-2 loss at TSG Hoffenheim this past weekend. Some of the notable ones include Xabi Alonso, who coaches Bayer Leverkusen; Julian Nagelsmann, current national coach; and Ralf Rangnick, Austrian national coach. They even approached Roger Schmidt of Benfica Lisbon, but he declined the offer.

Oliver Glasner, once coach of Eintracht Frankfurt, expressed interest in taking the Bayern job but his team, Crystal Palace, demanded a steep transfer fee. The most recent rumors of Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi also didn't materialize. Bayern seems determined to find the right fit despite facing rejections and difficulties.

While Kompany's tenure at Burnley wasn't conclusive with a relegation, his familiarity with the Bundesliga could still be an asset if he were to become Bayern's coach. Despite Thomas Tuchel's departure from FC Bayern Munich, the German giants have had a tough time finding a suitable replacement, with candidates like Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, and Xabi Alonso turning down offers.
