Is Hummels moving to Mallorca, Italy - or Saudi Arabia?

The time of Mats Hummels at BVB has come to an end after a total of 13 years. Several clubs are now chasing the former Dortmund defense chief. In Italy, they already want to know about a secure transfer, in Spain they deny alleged interest. And then there are the Saudi rumors.

The Spanish LaLiga side RCD Mallorca has denied media reports about alleged transfer negotiations for Mats Hummels. "There's absolutely nothing to it," assured RCD sports director Pablo Ortells in Palma at the presentation of the new coach Jagoba Arrasate.

Ortells admitted, however, that there had been an unclear offer. "I received a call from someone I don't even know, from whom I don't know if it was the player's agent, and a half hour later, the news was already in the media," the sports director laughed.

Besides Spanish media, Sky TV reported on Monday about alleged contacts between RCD Mallorca and the World Cup winner of 2014. Some media believed the transfer was almost perfect, with only details missing, as Hummels owns an estate on the Mediterranean island.

Rome? Milan? Or perhaps Saudi Arabia?

Since the professional's departure from Borussia Dortmund, much has been speculated about the future of the 35-year-old center-back. In Italy, it was reported that Hummels would join AS Roma in Serie A and sign a two-year contract with an option for extension for another season. The Romans are said to want to give up Englishman Chris Smalling to make room for Hummels. However, there is also interest from AC Milan.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia is said to have thrown its eye on the World Cup winner of 2014 again. However, it was already reported a few weeks ago that the defender had no interest in an adventure in the desert or even in the USA. Since his son lives in Munich, he only wants to move to a nearby European country.

Borussia Dortmund announced on Friday that the contract with the player, who was not nominated by German coach Julian Nagelsmann for the EM, would not be extended. With Dortmund, Hummels became German champion twice. In his last BVB game, Dortmund lost the Champions League final against Real Madrid 0:2.

RCD Mallorca, a LaLiga team in Spain, has denied any transfer negotiations for Mats Hummels, despite media speculation. However, the Italian club AS Roma is said to be interested in the former Dortmund defender, with reports suggesting he would sign a two-year contract and replace Chris Smalling in their lineup. Meanwhile, AC Milan is also rumored to have shown interest, and Hummels himself has expressed a preference for moving to a nearby European country, rather than venturing to Saudi Arabia or the USA.
